Alan or Dudders as he is universally known, had hopes of a career in football and cricket, and once signed for Ryman League 2 club Wembley from Edgware via a fax machine. He never made the first team at either, but managed a few reserve games and once scored a Le Tissier like goal at Hillingdon (possibly there, too long ago to remember).
He cut his teeth in football journalism for clubcall and covered many of the London teams before moving on to Timeform Radio - where he presented for over a decade at Cheltenham, Royal Ascot and Goodwood. He still works as a broadcaster and has also written features at Gambling Magazine, articles for Daily Mirror and a veteran of Betting.Betfair's football, racing and reality TV pages. With an occasional appearance on Dubai TV in the past too.
His own playing style is described as a cross between Chris Waddle and Zlatan, and once batted against Monty Panesar.
